Jared Leto Sucks: Deja News April 8

Hey SoCal! This week, Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the titular anti-hero, released in theaters. It’s the story of a scientist who turns himself into a vampire. As Leto said in the film, “Its a curse.” For clarity, the curse isn’t being a vampire. Its being Jared Leto. While Jordan Catalano puts the suck in succubus, Mike Ciriaco is gonna bring it back to your brain with this week’s Deja News!

LA County suspended official travel to Texas and Florida over their LGBTQ policies.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to suspend all official travel to Texas and Florida due to highly publicized policies directed at LGBTQ+ youth and families.

The motion by Supervisors Sheila Kuehl and Hilda Solis called for the suspension of all travel to the states except for instances when failing to authorize such a trip “would seriously harm the county’s interests.”

LA Council backed divesting pension funds from fossil fuels.

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to support a state Senate bill under which the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System would divest from fossil fuel companies.

The council resolution, introduced by Councilman Paul Koretz, supports Senate Bill 1173 — co-authored by Sen. Lena Gonzalez, D-Long Beach, and Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco.

“The brand new IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report is unequivocal: it’s now or never if we want to limit planetary warming to reasonably safe levels,” Koretz said.

Bubble Fest returned to Orange County.

Bubble artist Melody Yang has done many shows in the past for Discovery Cube Orange County’s annual event featuring soapy fun for kids, but when the show debuts Wednesday, it will be a bit different.

Yang, who usually does the laser show as her brother handles most of the bubble tricks, will be doing Bubblefest solo this time around, and she will be taking over the production as a new mom.

Yang’s son was born in January of last year.

“It’s changed my perspective on a lot of things, and it will change the way I interact with the kids,” Yang told City News Service.

Mike Ciriaco will be bringing it back to your brain next Friday with another Deja News. Until then, sleep tight and don’t let Jared Leto bite, SoCal.
