Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP) and the Monrovia City Clerk’s Office have partnered with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Record/County Clerk’s Office to host a community meeting at Second Baptist Church (925 S. Shamrock Ave., Monrovia) for the Vote Center Placement Project on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m. Learn of voting changes for 2020 and provide feedback on proposed Vote Centers locations.

As part of Los Angeles County’s initiative, Voting Solutions for All People, one of the biggest changes is the implementation of Vote Centers. These Vote Centers will replace traditional polling places and allow LA County voters to vote at any center throughout the county over an 11-day voting period.

The county will also implement new accessible voting equipment designed by voters to meet their specific needs, including full language services and expanded accessibility.

So far, 2,000 potential vote center locations have been identified, and the next phase of the project is to narrow it down to 1,000 locations.

The meeting is an opportunity for Monrovian and residents of Arcadia, Baldwin Park, Bradbury, Duarte, City of Industry, El Monte, Irwindale, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City, West Covina and the unincorporated LA County areas of: Avocado Heights, Bassett, Bradbury, Duarte, Hacienda Heights, Monrovia, North Whittier, Pellissier Village and Whittier Narrows to learn about changes coming in 2020.
