Leadership Pasadena Names Mary Spellman to Board of Directors
Leadership Pasadena (LP) announced the appointment of Mary Spellman to the Board of Directors to chair LP’s strategic planning efforts.
“Mary has a strong academic and professional background in education evaluation, planning and operations. She has a BA in Anthropology, masters in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services and her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. Mary is the Executive Director of the Fletcher Jones Foundation, one of the largest donors to higher educations in the country, with assets of over $139,000,000. The foundation has donated over $221,000,000 since it began,” according to Board Chair Josh Driskell.
LP’s Cindy Bengtson continued, “Mary is also a LP graduate from the Class of 2018. She also serves on the Board of FVO Solutions, is a member of Southern California Grantmakers, volunteers with Union Station and College Access Program as well as numerous education focused organizations. She’s a brilliant, gracious caring individual perfect for our Board.”
Ms. Spellman commented, “What an honor to be asked to serve on the Leadership Pasadena Board. I participated in the Leadership Pasadena core program when I first moved here to get to know my new home and get more involved. Leadership provided this and so much more. As Leadership Pasadena looks to the future and how it can best serve the needs of the Pasadena community, I look forward to being part of that process.”
