Nearly 200 children stormed the Rose Bowl’s gridiron on Saturday morning to partake in the 2018 Youth Clinic and Health & Fitness Day.
The special event was hosted by Denver Broncos defensive backs coach and Pasadena native Marcus Robertson and former NFL linebacker and Altadena native Chad Brown.
Children between the ages of six and 13 spent the morning performing various drills carried out by either Robertson, Brown or volunteer players from the UCLA and USC football teams.
Fitness components, including yoga and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes, were also offered at the event for teenagers and adults. Attendees also had the option of taking a tour of the renowned Pasadena stadium.
Robertson said he’s been hosting football clinics in the Pasadena area since 1993 because he wanted to give back to the same community that provided him with the tools to be successful.
“I think it’s great,” he said. “The fact that these kids get the opportunity to be on the football field that’s so historical, I think it’s outstanding … and for me, it’s just an opportunity to give back and find a way to touch the lives of these inner-city kids.”
