Netflix’s “Diana: The Musical” collected a leading five dishonors Saturday as the 42nd annual Razzie Awards were announced, including the “prize” of worst picture, while Lakers star LeBron James earned a $4.97 trophy he never wanted — for worst actor.
The Razzies — the alter ego to the Oscars, dishonoring the worst in film from the past year — awarded a series of Golden Raspberry statuettes to “Diana: The Musical” in addition to worst picture — worst actress for Jeanna de Waal, worst supporting actress to Judy Kaye, worst director to Christopher Ashley and worst screenplay to Joe DiPietro and David Bryan.
LeBron James was named worst actor for his work in the live-action/animation reboot “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” He also earned the prize for worst screen couple for his pairing with “any Warner cartoon character or Warner Media product he dribbles on.”
“Space Jam” was also named worst remake, rip-off or sequel.
Bruce Willis was a guaranteed Razzie winner this year, actually earning his own category — Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie. The winner was Willis in “Cosmic Sin.”
Previous Oscar winner Jared Leto earned a Razzie for worst supporting actor for “House of Gucci.”
But the news was not all bad on the Razzie front. Will Smith — who previously took home Razzie Awards for “Wild Wild West” and “After Earth” — won the Razzie Redeemer Award, recognizing his Oscar-nominated turn in “King Richard.”
