Elsinore 3-1 Westridge
After defeating Monrovia in a five-set classic Saturday night, the visiting Westridge Tigers (25-6) lost in the Division 4 CIF semifinals against the Elsinore Tigers (31-5) (25-18, 25-17, 18-25, 25-9) Tuesday night in Wildomar. It was Westridge’s first appearance in the semifinals since 2007.
Though the Prep League champions fell short of a title, expectations will be high for the upcoming season. Westridge will return their core juniors Eryn Boken (7), Makana Meyer (13), and Allison Martinez (1) in 2017, and should be favorites for a second-straight Prep League title.
Arcadia 1-3 Sierra Canyon
Making it to the CIF quarterfinals for the second time in three years, the Arcadia Apaches (28-2) fell to the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers (29-3) (23-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-22) Saturday night in Arcadia.
The Pacific League champion Apaches lost only one match heading into the playoffs, going undefeated in league play along the way. Arcadia will return star junior Hannah Kennedy (21) in their quest for a CIF title in 2017.
Sierra Canyon and Elsinore will play tonight at 7 p.m. at Cerritos College for the Division 4 CIF title.
