Mid-tempo, ambient disco vibes are the best words to describe the musings of Jessie Ware. Ware has been serenading us with soulful jams for the last two years—the English singer-songwriter was best known for her 2012 song “Wildest Moments” and is now back with a brand new album titled, Tough Love. The album’s singles, “Tough Love” and “Say You Love Me”, have been topping the European charts and are ready to take over the US sound waves. They’ve taken over our headquarters during deadlines, that’s for sure.
Ware’s voice is a mesmerizingly echoey sound paired with soft beats over lyrics of deep love, scorn and desire. Essentially categorized as pop, Ware’s songs have the depth of a poet and the catchy tunes which will have you listening to her on repeat. Basically, soothe your souls, people! The second album releases October 24th and has a few recognizable co-writers such as Ed Sheeran and Dev Hynes (Blood Orange). Have a look at her video for “Say You Love Me”, she means it.
