Air + Style 2016: ASAP Ferg, J. Cole, Incubus + More
Over the weekend, LA CANVAS kicked it at the second annual Air + Style Los Angeles festival at Downtown’s Coliseum. The two-day fest, hosted by extreme sportman, Shaun White, was the to go place for lovers of live music, and stands as the world’s premiere Big Air snowboarding event.
The festival was founded by snowboarder Charles Weger and snowboard photographer Andrew Hourmont in 1993, and took place in Innsbruck, Austria. Only a few hundred were expected to show up the first year, but several thousand attendees piled in to watch contestants execute one single straight jump each. In 1999, a whopping 45,000 attendees showed up to the event.
Air + Style took off in Bejing, China in 2010, where it officially became an annual event to anticipate. In 2015, the festival came to LA under Shaun White Enterprises, and has taken on its current form.
Much like prior years, thousands of attendees flooded Expo Park at the Coliseum to catch major musical performances and watch international pro-snowboarders venture out onto the festival’s, now signature, 16-story-high snow jump.
Last year, Air + Style LA hosted musical performances by headliners Diplo, The Flaming Lips, Steve Aoki and Kendrick Lamar. This year, attendees were treated to performances by the likes of A-Trak, Haim, ASAP Ferg, Incubus and J. Cole. For must-see-snaps of Air + Style Los Angeles 2016, scroll below.
