Dot Com Exclusive: Photographer Gari L. Askew
Atlanta born, LA based portrait and commercial photographer, Gari L. Askew II is thankfully now on our radar, and we’re up to speed as to the 411 on his body of work that includes the likes of John Mayer, MOBY, Dom Kennedy, Martin Schoeller—to name a few—and then there was a silly good snapshot session with our Remix Issue cover star, Chet Faker.
Well, we’re now inclusive within his world. In Askew’s recent editorial capture exclusively for LA CANVAS DOT COM, model Dillion Westbrock gets styled by Lindsay Nolan and groomed by Juanita Lyon in a story shot on location in DTLA with an inspiration of 90’s London rude boy vibes meets Zack Morris for an ultimate mix of what could be a lost character in a John Hughes film.
And, cause we asked, Askew noted that some of his likes are 90’s New Jack Swing, Pho, and YouTube, with dislikes ranging from rude peeps and public bathrooms.
