Monrovia’s Fountain to the Falls Race Brings out the Fast and Brave

Last weekend, the annual 7-mile Fountain to the Falls race was run from the fountain in Library Park to the falls in Monrovia Canyon and back.  The fastest time was logged by Ruben Hernandez of Los Angeles.  He made the entire route in just 40 minutes and 36 seconds.  That is an average pace of 5 minutes and 48 seconds per mile (please take into consideration that the route to the Falls is literally uphill).

The City Manager’s Update this week also noted that Mayor Pro Tem Becky Shevlin ran the race as she does every year.  Her time of 1 hour, 25 minutes and 50 seconds averages to a pace of 12 minutes and 15 seconds per mile.  “This meant that Ms. Shevlin placed first in her grouping,” the City Manager wrote.
