`The Power of the Dog’ continues big awards season at Dorian Film Awards

Jane Campion and “The Power of the Dog” rustled up some honors at the 13th Dorian Film Awards presented by GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, it was announced Thursday morning.

Netflix’s “The Power of the Dog” won three awards, including Best Film. Campion won for Best Director and Best Screenplay.

“Flee,” a documentary about a gay Afghan refugee, won four awards: Best LGBTQ Film, two documentary awards, and GALECA’s first Best Animated Film award.

“Passing” won the Best Unsung Film award.  “Drive My Car” won Best Non-English Language Film. “Tick, Tick … Boom!” won the award for Best Film Music. “Dune” won the Most Visually Striking Film award.

Kristen Stewart won Best Film Performance for her role as Princess Diana in “Spencer.” Ariana DeBose won two awards, for Best Supporting Performance and Rising Star, for her role in “West Side Story.”

Pedro Almodovar won the Special Wilde Artist award for directing “Parallel Mothers.” He was also honored as GALECA’s latest LGBTQIA+ Trailblazer.

Rita Moreno won GALECA’s first Latino Timeless Star award.

The signature Campiest Flick award went to “House of Gucci.”

GELECA’s Dorian Awards, first presented in 2010, honor the best in film and TV, mainstream to queer+, at separate times of the year. GALECA is made up of more than 350 critics, journalists and broadcasters who work for media outlets in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
