Disney unveils slew of new attractions for Disneyland, DCA

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event held in Anaheim, Disney announced a slate of new rides and attractions set to debut at its Southern California theme parks. The announcements coincide with Disneyland Resort’s preparations for its 70th anniversary in 2025.

One of the most anticipated additions is a new mission on the Smugglers Run ride, featuring Mando and Grogu from the upcoming 2026 release of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie. This mission will take visitors on a journey to the Millennium Falcon as part of the “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” experience.

Another reveal includes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open on Nov. 15, 2024. This new attraction will coincide with the start of the holiday season at Disneyland Resort. Upon its opening, the area currently known as Critter Country will be renamed Bayou Country.

In a groundbreaking development, Walt Disney Imagineers are also working on the first-ever audio-animatronic of Walt Disney himself. Titled “Walt Disney — A Magical Life,” this feature will premiere in 2025 at the Main Street Opera House, playing in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”

The Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure is set to double in size with the addition of two new rides, Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Construction is slated to begin in 2025, with some of the franchise’s beloved actors, including Robert Downey Jr., returning to their iconic roles.

Disney California Adventure will also see the introduction of a new “Avatar” destination. Inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and future films in the franchise, this attraction promises to be an immersive experience for guests.

Pixar Animation Studios is not left behind in the wave of new attractions. A “Coco” ride will make its debut at DCA, marking the first-ever ride based on the popular movie at any Disney park.

Disneyland Resort officials emphasized that these announcements are just the beginning of what will be a magical year ahead as they celebrate their 70th anniversary. In addition to new attractions in California, Disney is planning to introduce new rides and themes at parks around the world and expand its cruise line fleet.
