The Capitol Records building is one of the most iconic structures in LA and if you’re a native, you’ll know a handful of people who have been inside and even fewer who have been to the top floor. Now, for the 60th anniversary of Capitol Studios, the building will be opening it’s doors to the public on May 21st and 22nd.

Music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enter inside the walls of the legendary Studios, and hear timeless stories and first-hand accounts of legendary sessions that took place over the Studio’s 60 years of music magic. Attendees can look forward to a rare tour of famed Studios A, B and C, as well as access to the Capitol photo booth and entry to the WAX Record Fair, which will be held in the parking lot of the building.

The WAX Record Fair will host its 2nd installment of their record-collecting and educational event on site at the Capitol Records Building, with panel discussions featuring industry professions and artists, plus the opportunity to pick up some new and old vinyls for that ever-growing collection of yours. Attendees can also expect DJ sets from major names, meet-and-greets, tantalizing local food vendors and a beer garden for the 21 and up.

If you need to know a bit more about the history of  Capitol Records (you know, in case you’re repping your mixtape) here’s a quick lesson. In 1956, the Capitol Records building opened in the heart of Hollywood, housing what has become the legendary atelier known as Capitol Studios. In February of that year, the Studios made its big debut recording none other than the King of Swing, Frank Sinatra. Capitol Studios would later go on to host iconic musicians such as Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles The Beatles, Oasis, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM and NWA and continues to make music history recording and mastering the contemporary likes of Banks, Skrillex, Sam Smith, Deadmau5, Childish Gambino and Ariana Grande to name a modest few.
