Camo Out: VFILES Partners up with Mountain Dew for a Tech-Driven Collab Brought to Life by Creator

We may have our nose stuck to our phone most of the time, but that’s no justification for not knowing shit when it comes down to the history behind some of the sickest details of clothing items known–and owned– by mankind. Whether you’re into the parka trend, or have always rocked a pair of Dr. Martens, one thing that both items have in common is the military influence, borrowed for the utilitarian benefits. However, the number one detail that we have borrowed from our military has to be the camo print. While most of us haven’t rocked camo since the days we wore matching pijamas (ya’ll know what we’re talking about), a certain collaboration fusing wearable tech with the iconic print might just change that.

VFILES, the digital community for creatives, and bubbly brand Mountain Dew partnered up to create a line that takes on the challenge of affordable and wearable nanotechnology along with their refreshing take on the coolest print out there, camoflauge. The line includes a bluetooth-enabled parka that features speakers in the hood, a solar panel backpack that lets you charge on the go, an earbud tracksuit and a snap-cam tech cap that shoots video, pics and connects wirelessly to your phone all while remaining hands free.

We witnessed the collaboration during Complexcon this past weekend where we were introduced to the past, present and future of camoflauge. We were guided through memorabilia curated by Herschel Supply Company senior designer Jules Gayton, interacted with the future’s idea of camouflage– the invisibility cloak–and took part of an interactive, augmented reality game which resulted to be a trick to get us to dance to the custom beats by Nosaj Thing. If an invisibility cloak is the future’s camo print, we are all about it, but for now disappear from the world by having tunes leak out of the high power speakers of your new Bluetooth-enabled parka.

This collaboration was brought to life by Creator, PepsiCo’s catalyst group on a mission to explore the edges of culture and co-create innovative experiences for PepsiCo North America Beverages. The line is available on VFILES and learn more about the history of camo below:
