Here at LA CANVAS, we’re all about not only providing our folks with quality content, we’re also about serving our community and giving back where we can.

Thankfully, we’re surrounded by great people that share that same passion and we’re grateful to be able to work with these fine folks and combine our efforts.

In partnership with the T.J. Martell Foundation‘s Artworks for the Cure show, artist BUA paid a visit to the kids at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to teach them a little bit about how to draw caricatures.

In the CHLA’s Creative Oasis Playroom, BUA drew his buddy Manny in front of the kids, showing them that how caricatures differ from normal portraits because of the exaggerated features, making them cartoon-like.

BUA kept the kids laughing by poking fun at Manny’s shaggy hair and stretching out his nose into something reminiscent of Pinocchio’s schnauz. The kids were encouraged to take a shot at etching out their own Manny-caricature, or something of their own liking, with BUA’s help.

For three lucky kids, their pictures will be featured at the Artworks for the Cure showing next to works from over 150 contemporary painters, photographers and mixed media artists like BUA.

After a morning-hang out with everyone’s favorite urban artist, the kids were left with a BUA-sketch of their own and a day that we’re sure they won’t forget. For these kids, a day with BUA gave them a chance to see one person behind the collective effort that is Artworks for a Cure, which benefits research for the cause, treatment and cure for cancer, leukemia and AIDS in children.

The show will open with an artists reception on Friday, October 11 and follow with an awards dinner on Saturday, and closing with the exhibit and auction on Sunday.

Luckily for our LA CANVAS folks and followers, using our promo code – LAC – reaps you two benefits for the show: 1) it knocks $25 off of Friday’s ticket and 2) Friday’s ticket is also good for admission on Sunday. We love two-for-one deals and this one is a steal.

So come hang out with us in October to enjoy some dope art for a good cause – if  BUA loves the kids and we love the kids, you should too.
