Halloween Bash (Oct. 31 @ 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Old Town Monrovia, 321 S. Myrtle Ave.) The afternoon will be filled with ghoulish fun for the entire family. The ever-popular “Trick-or-Treat” event will be taking place in Old Town Monrovia and is sponsored by the Old Town Merchants. Hands-on Saturdays for Families ‘Celebrate Diversity!’ (Oct. 29 @ 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., The Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage, 380 W. Huntington Drive) Traditionally, Dia de los Muertos is celebrated on November first and second. This time is spent celebrating and remembering family and friends that we have lost with joy and cheer. Come celebrate at the Museum with Calaveras (sugar skulls), make Calacas (skeletons that know how to party), champurrado (thickened hot chocolate), and pan dulce (sweet bread). Listen to mariachis, funded by the Arcadia Museum Foundation. It will be the party of the afterlife.

Zenyatta Celebration- Breeders’ Cup Event (Nov. 2 @ 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., First Avenue, Arcadia, CA) In conjunction with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the City of Arcadia, Santa Anita Park, and Breeders’ Cup are hosting a celebration to honor the “Queen of Racing,” Zenyatta. Zenyatta is considered one of the most accomplished Thoroughbred mares (females) of all time in American racing. Join us for the unveiling of the Zenyatta “Walk of Champions” plaque, music and refreshments. Expected to attend are Zenyatta’s owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Moss; trainer, John Shirreffs; and jockey, Mike Smith.
