Donate trees to support your local troops as well

Holiday season may be hectic for those of us who do the planning, shopping and hosting for our loved ones during this beautiful season. If you had the opportunity to delegate an important task on your list would you do it in a heartbeat? I know I would. The award winning Monrovia High School (MHS) Band and Color Guard will be having a tree sale this year. The purpose of this sale is to help raise much needed funds for new equipment, uniforms and travel expenses for the MHS Band and Color Guard. All you have to do is submit your order with a check by Nov. 13, and then pick up your lovely tree at the Monrovia High School event parking lot on Dec. 8.

Not only is the MHS Band and Color Guard selling trees that come directly from a farm in Oregon, they are also accepting pre-sell orders of  handmade wreaths, evergreen swags and garlands. This incredible fundraising event is also featuring Trees for Troops, in which you may donate a 6 to 7-foot fresh Douglas fir tree for only $68 to a military family in need. Annual tree buyers are aware this is a sweet deal, but the sweetest part of this deal is that by donating a tree you will be supporting your local troops. This event has many incentives that will bring your holiday season comfort and joy by making a tree purchase that will support not only your local troops but also the students of Monrovia High School Band and Color Guard. The Marching Wildcats Band and Color Guard will be performing at a couple of upcoming Veterans events. The first one will be at the City of Hope on Nov. 8 and the other one at Library Park in Monrovia on Nov. 12.

This year let the MHS band and Color Guard take care of the tree, wreath and garland shopping for you. You will be saving yourself a lot of time and helping your community at the same time. It is a win-win for everyone. Please hurry as your last day to order is Nov. 13. Please contact Joanie Maines at jmaines12345@gmail.com
