Pasadena’s Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden welcomes internationally known woodwind artist and jazz legend Bennie Maupin, who will be performing with his friends: David Arnay on the piano, Darek Oles on bass, and percussionist Eric McCain.

Maupin and friends will perform on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 with online reservation, and $10 at the gate. Wine and beer sales will begin at 5 p.m.
Bennie Maupin helped define the classic recordings of such greats as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. The multi-woodwind player has also recorded with Marion Brown, Chick Corea, Horace Silver, McCoy Tyner, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Jack DeJohnette, Andrew Hill, Eddie Henderson, and Woody Shaw, to name only a few.

David Arnay is curator of “World Music Series” and performs as a soloist, sideman, and leader of his own jazz group. He teaches at USC Thornton School of Music and has released three CDs, most recently “8” (Studio V, 2013).
Also, Tai-Ling Wong will be selling her wonderful Asian-inspired Citron clothing and gifts.
Reservations can be made on the Japanese Garden website.

Members receive free admission for two. Picnics are welcome. Parking will be at the Westridge lot on Madeline Drive or in their two driveways. Street parking is prohibited.
