In the containing saga of PUSD’s financial woes, Superintendent Brian McDonald has terminated bus service for general education students starting next school year.

McDonald sent out a notice Thursday stating that “in light of our District’s budget situation, general education transportation service can no longer be offered and will be discontinued in the 2018-19 school year as $12 million in reductions in the Fiscal Stabilization Plan and Second Interim Report are implemented.”

McDonald stated that PUSD currently operates seven general education buses for students who attend schools other than their school of residence and for other purposes.
The memo went on to say that service will continue through the end of the current school year. Seven bus routes will be discontinued in 2018-2019: 701, 702, 703, 704, 705, 706 and 707.

Transportation is not affected for students with disabilities that have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) stipulate transportation service.

Public transportation service is available through the City of Pasadena and LA Metro. Routes, schedules, and fare information are available at Pasadena Transit.
