Mother’s Club in 1960’s to the 1980’s was held at Orange Grove Friends Quaker Meeting House. There will be a special reunion Saturday, April 7th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the new location on Fair Oaks.

Mother’s Club began with the inspiration of an elderly Quaker, Mara Moser. A few friends and eager volunteers, like Taka Nomura and Terry Mackenzie from Orange Grove Friends meeting, helped the Club grow.  They offered to assist with chores for some of the mothers in her low income neighborhood whose husbands had been incarcerated. Mother’s Club became a place where families of all races came together to help foster a sense of belonging to the whole community and appreciation for different cultures and different races. Through classes and sharing, mothers and children increased their sense of self-worth and learned new skills.  That tradition continues today at the Families Forward Learning Center on North Fair Oaks.

The event will be held at the Families Forward Learning Center, the new name for Mother’s Club, at 980 North Fair Oaks in Pasadena.
