Voters from around the Long Beach area decided who they want to represent them on their local city councils Tuesday, Nov. 3, including in Bellflower, Downey, Lynwood, Hawaiian Gardens and Signal Hill.

Here is an overview of some of the races’ results that happened around the Long Beach area as of 1:20 a.m. Wednesday:

Bellflower District 4

Victor A. Sanchez was leading early in election returns for the city of Bellflower City Council’s District 4 seat. Tonia McMillian was in second.

Five candidates vied for Bellflower’s District 4 seat, which covers the southwest portion of the city, bordering Paramount. The district’s candidates also included Stephen Amicon, Roger Graham, Luis Melliz.

Only one candidate was eligible for elected offices in the city’s District 1 and District 2 seats after the nomination period closed Aug. 7. During a special council meeting Aug. 17, the council appointed Raymond Hamada for the District 1 seat and Dan Koops for the District 2 seat.
