The steadily climbing average per-gallon price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was $6.422, a little more than 7 cents from its record Tuesday following an increase of 1.2 cents.
The average price has risen 42 consecutive days, spiking 78 cents, including 1 cent on Monday, the AAA and Oil Price Information Service reported. The average is 18.1 cents higher than at the same time last week, 68.7 cents more than a month ago and $1.692 higher than a year ago.
The average pump price has risen $1.728 since the U.S. and Israel’s military attacks against Iran started Feb. 28. The conflict haws pushed global oil prices higher leading to significantly higher rates for consumers to pay at the gas pump.
LA County’s record average price is $6.493 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County price for regular gas was 5.1 cents away from the all-time record after rising 1.2 cents to $6.407, the highest average pump price since Oct. 6, 2022. The OC average has also risen for 42 straight days, up 83.2 cents. The average added another three-tenths of a cent Monday.
The average price in Orange County is 17.6 cents more than one week ago, 69.5 cents more than a the previous month and $1.699 higher than the year-ago average. OC’s price has increased $1.771 since the Iran war began.
The Orange County record is $6.458 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The average price for self-serve regular gallons in Riverside County was 6.3 cents from matching its record Tuesday following an increase of 1.1 cents to $6.31, its highest amount since Oct. 8, 2022.
The average gas price has increased 42 days in a row, rising 79 cents that included 1.2 cents on Monday, data shows. The Riverside County average is 17.8 cents more than one week ago, 69.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.707 more than at the same time one year ago.
The average price has risen $1.759 since the Iran attacks, and the all-time record in Riverside County is $6.373 set Oct. 5, 2022.
On the northern side of the Inland Empire, the average price for regular gas in San Bernardino County was 6.321 on Tuesday, up from $6.298 on Monday.
The average price a week ago in San Bernardino County was $6.126 and $5.634 at the same time last month. The current price is $1.712 higher compared with the same time last year.
The county’s record-high set Oct. 6, 2022, is $6.375.
The national average price decreased for the fourth consecutive day, down 2.1 cents to $4.455. The U.S. average has dropped 3.6 cents over the past four days, which included three-tenths of a cent on Monday. Prior to the decreases, back-to-back increases totaled 1.7 cents.
The national average price is 2 cents lower than a week ago but 37.4 cents higher than one month ago and $1.32 higher than one year ago. It has increased $1.473 since the Iran conflict.
Over the past week, average gasoline prices in LA, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties rose more than 2.5 cents per day while the national average price dropped by nearly three-tenths of a cent per day.
“Average gasoline prices fell in slightly more than half of states over the last week, with the Great Lakes seeing the largest declines after a major refinery successfully restarted, while the West Coast moved in the opposite direction as refinery snags there sent prices jumping significantly,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a statement released Monday.

“With oil holding below $100 per barrel, many Americans may see modest declines ahead for gasoline, but the West Coast faces continued pressure with further increases possible,” De Haas said. “The broader geopolitical situation remains fluid and could push prices in either direction with little warning.”
The national average price is at its highest amount at a late date in the calendar year, according to De Haan.
