Corona will celebrate creativity, culture and community with live music, local art and interactive experiences for all ages at the second annual Music and Arts Festival this weekend.
The festival takes place at the city’s Historic Civic Center, 815 W. Sixth St., from 1 to 6 p.m. This is a free event for the community.
Pack your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a lineup of musicians and performers including Upstream, Tori Green, High D Boys and No Jac.
Performance times are:
- 1:10 p.m. No Jac doing funk and R&B;
- 2:30 p.m. Christian Arts Theater Youth Theater | Christian Arts and Theatre;
- 2:45 p.m. El Lucero Ballet Folklorico at the Historic Theater Stage;
- 3 p.m. Upstream performs Caribbean music;
- 4:15 p.m. Tori Green performs top 40 hits; and
- 5 p.m. High-D Boys sing harmonies and are a live request band.
Attendees will also be able to explore unique works from local artists, handcrafted goods, art workshops and creative exhibits. Take a walk inside of the Community Room at the Civic Center for the Art Show Showcase displaying art by residents.
Young Artist Square activities include:
- 1 to 2 p.m.: “Musical Canvas”;
- 2 to 4 p.m.: mosaic rock painting;
- 4 to 5 p.m.: “Sun Catcher”;
- 4 p.m.: “Color Rush: You become the canvas”; and
- 5 to 6 p.m.: “Coloring 101.”
And don’t miss out on the free artist workshop sessions hosted by Artist Collective. Participants learn to paint like a professional and discover all the techniques of canvas creations.
- Session 1: 1:30 to 2 p.m.;
- Session 2: 2:30 to 3 p.m.;
- Session 3: 4:15 to 4:45 p.m.; and
- Session 4: 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Artist’s Collective is a shared communal space open to everyone. The organization offers a variety of art classes taught by local artists.
“You can expect to learn new art techniques, refine your skill sets, craft and DIY,” organizers said. Free spots are limited, so organizers advised advance registration.
The Corona Art Association will also curate the Community Art Exhibit in the Community Room during the festival. It’s open to all ages and skill levels.
The festival will also feature offerings from local food vendors and festival favorites throughout the day.
Parking will be available at Main City Hall Parking Lot, 400 S. Vicentia Ave., which can be accessed on Buena Vista through Second Street or Vicentia Avenue. Handicap Parking will be available at the Vicentia Activity Center, 550 S. Vicentia Ave., and the corner of Sixth Street and Buena Vista.
