The city of San Bernardino is applying for state funding to support the San Police Department’s off-highway vehicle enforcement team, which works to prevent illegal OHV use in areas such as the Santa Ana River and other environmental habitats within city limits.

If awarded, the grant through the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division will fund increased patrols, equipment maintenance and enforcement efforts to reduce noise, property damage and environmental harm caused by unauthorized OHVs.

Officials encouraged the public to review the proposal and share their input during the comment period for the grant open through 5 p.m. on May 4.

For more information and to view a copy of the city’s proposal, go to Welcome OHMVR Division’s webpage on grants. To submit comments, email ohv.grants@parks.ca.gov
