The Thomas and Bebette Coleman Foundation has pledged $500,000 to USC Arcadia Hospital as a token of gratitude for exceptional care provided to a family member, hospital administrators said Wednesday.

The donation will support a wide range of initiatives that include technology upgrades, enhancements to surgical services and medical training programs.

“There is tremendous comfort in knowing a loved one is being cared for by hospital staff who truly cares when there are no family members in the room,” according to a Coleman Foundation statement. “USC Arcadia Hospital’s doctors, nurses, and staff provided such compassionate and quality of care for our family member at a time when we didn’t have the resources to support the hospital. This gift is a token of our gratitude for treating our family member like a queen when she was just another patient coming through the doors. We will always remember the kindness, the thoughtfulness, and the exceptional service of the hospital and we are committed to ensuring all patients receive the high level of care as our family member.”

Distribution of the funds from the Temple City-based foundation will take place over five years, providing $100,000 annually, according to the hospital.
