The Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) presented the award for the Most Business-Friendly City in the “Large City” category to the City of Glendale at the 30th Annual EDDY Awards hosted at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena on Wednesday.

“Glendale has a strong economy that’s powered in no small measure by city government staff dedicated to making it desirable and pleasant to do business in our city,” said Glendale Community Development Director Bradley Calvert. “We’re grateful to the LAEDC for this honor, which is the result of many years of hard work and commitment by many teams who have taken important steps to create the conditions for vibrant economic activity and prosperity in Glendale.”

Over the past several years, the City of Glendale implemented and expanded a variety of economic development tactics and streamlined processes across operations, supported in part by its Economic Development team, helping it earn rankings as a top 5 business-friendly city by the LAEDC multiple years in a row.

Some of the economic development activities include:

  • The free Human Resources Hotline, which has provided hundreds of Glendale small businesses with essential guidance on compliance with state employment laws, hiring practices, and employee discipline.
  • Concierge development services to shepherd projects like the new Erewhon and other developments
  • Artsakh Creative Program, an award-winning initiative that transforms vacant storefronts into short-term retail and cultural activations. By offering free space to artist, makers, and start-ups, the program helps generate foot traffic, enliven commercial corridors, and provide emerging businesses with a low-rick launchpad.
  • Let’s Grow Glendale” Small Business Summit is an annual event designed to connect business owners with resources, industry experts, fellow entrepreneurs. The summit provides tools, insights, and opportunities to foster collaboration, support business growth, and drive long-term success.
  • Tech Startup Growth Program supports early-stage companies through partnerships with incubators, mentors, and investors.
  • Glendale Tech Week and Tech on Tap meetups bring together start-ups, investors, and established companies. These programs provide opportunities for networking, collaboration, and growth.
