For Halloween frights and spooky SoCal happenings, Calico Ghost Town may be the right place to be the last two weekends of the month for Ghost Haunt: Terror Under the Big Top. The first weekend of ghost haunting starts Friday and continues through Sunday.
The second weekend is Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.
Ghost Haunt
Ghost Haunt hours are:
- Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
- Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ghost Haunt activities include pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, costume contests for all ages, campsite decorating contest, live music and entertainment shows, gunfighter shows, family-friendly games, activities and for an additional fee haunted attractions such as train rides, gold panning, haunted mine tours, the Mystery Shack and ghost tours.

Town scarers
Beware after dark as nightmares begin to roam throughout the town. Frightful scarers will lurk in the shadows waiting to prey on unsuspecting townsfolk.
Scare hours are Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Costume contest guidelines
Eventgoers can enter the costume contest in one of the following categories to win a prize: funniest, cutest, scariest and most creative. Dogs can join in on the fun too — Dorsey’s Dog House hosts its dog costume contest on Saturdays.
Campsite contest
Campers can also participate in the annual Ghost Haunt Campsite Decorating Contest based on the “Terror Under the Big Top” theme.
Admission
General admission for attendees age 12 and over is $15, youths 4-11 enter for $10 and ages 3 and under are free. Campers will also receive free admission up to four people with camping reservations.
