The 30th Annual Pride of the Valley 5K and 10K Run & Walk will return to Baldwin Park on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Morgan Park (4100 Baldwin Park Blvd.). The event will include the Pride of the Valley 5K, the inaugural Pride of the Valley 10K, the half-mile Tike Trot and the Virtual Pride of the Valley 5k.

“The Pride of the Valley is undoubtedly one of the most exciting summer events in Baldwin Park,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Alejandra Avila. “Now in its 30th year, this race promotes healthy habits for community members of all ages while bringing out the best in Baldwin Park’s competitive spirit. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to set a personal best or a family wanting to enjoy a fun morning out, this event is for you.”

Over three decades, the Pride of the Valley has welcomed legends who have gone on to compete in the Olympics, set American records and claim NCAA championships.

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the half-mile Tike Trot for participants 8 years old and younger. The Pride of the Valley 5K and the new Pride of the Valley 10K will both start at 8 a.m. The race begins and ends at Morgan Park. Participants will run north on Baldwin Park Boulevard, running through city streets before finishing back at Morgan Park.

Online registration is currently available and closes on Aug. 2 at 8 a.m. The city will also be accepting in-person sign-ups at the event. Registration fees are $32.80 for the 5K (virtual and in-person), $40.22 for the 10K and $22.20 for the Tike Trot. Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal upon crossing the finish line and a voucher for a free burger from In-N-Out.

This USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event will culminate with a special awards presentation recognizing top performers. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in the Tike Trot, High School Team Challenge and other featured race challenges.

A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, with an additional $500 cash prize for those who break the course record (14:00 for Men/16:03 for Women).  The Tike Trot will include three age divisions, with medals awarded to the top three finishers in each. All registered participants will receive a commemorative participation medal.

Runners can track their progress with chip timing in addition to splits at each mile. Following the run, event attendees are invited to a post-race party, with free refreshments and the awards ceremony.

Vehicular traffic along the course will be impacted during the race and shortly before and after the race, as well. For more information about Pride of the Valley 5K, including registration details, visit runsignup.com/Race/CA/BaldwinPark/PrideoftheValley5K.
