Glendale partners with AI-powered food search platform Famished

To support local restaurant owners and counter delivery service fees, the City of Glendale’s Economic Development Division has announced a partnership with Famished, an AI powered food search platform, that provides a low-cost food delivery app option.

According to Famished Founder and CEO Abhi Chatterjee, Famished does not charge restaurants on its platform a third-party commission. Instead, Famished connects diners directly with their favorite local spots through its AI-powered food search platform and customers can then pay per order.

“Restaurants lose a large portion of their profits to high commission fees charged by third-party delivery services. Famished offers an alternative, allowing restaurants to retain more of their profits while still providing convenient delivery options to customers,” said Community Development Director Bradley Calvert.

“Since the pandemic, restaurants have been stuck in a tough spot. While takeout and delivery became essential for survival, third-party apps started charging up to 40% per order—forcing restaurants to raise menu prices just to stay afloat. Customers, in turn, got hit with even higher costs and hidden fees,” said Abhi Chatterjee, chief executive officer of Famished.

“Those delivery apps take 25–30% per order, and we don’t even get access to our own customer data. We’re completely dependent on them, and it’s hurting our ability to grow. What we really need is a commission-free delivery system that lets us own the relationship with our customers again,” stated Tigran Azatian, owner of Tavern on Brand.

Famished is currently onboarding local Glendale restaurants. For local restaurants that want to get involved, they can visit Famished.io or email at Hello@Famished.ai. Customers can order by visiting Famished.ai/collections/Glendale.

The new Famished Glendale platform called Famished Glendale Collection launched on Friday. In addition to partnering with Famished, the City of Glendale offers numerous resources to its small business community, including the “Let’s Grow Glendale” Small Business Summit set for Thursday, its no-cost Human Resources Hotline, along with a step-by-step guide on how to do business in the city.
