Glendale’s Arts and Culture Commission is seeking proposals from creative artists and community members to temporarily display an installation in the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station.

The application is available year-round, and submissions are reviewed each year in the spring, according to the city. Art is displayed on a rotating basis in the ASMPGS, and artists whose work is selected will receive a $1,000 stipend as well as a production budget of up to $1,500.

The gas station is at the Adams Square Mini Park, 1020 E. Palmer Ave. in Glendale. The ASMPGS is a 12-foot-cubed space with acrylic windows on all sides, which enables panoramic viewing of the artwork from all angles, officials said.

The Adams Square Mini Park project was completed by the city to create a green space in the middle of the business district in the densely populated Adams Hill neighborhood. Officials also aimed to incorporate the historic 1936 Streamline Modern Gas Station, which is on the Glendale Register of Historic Resources.

Art installations at the gas station are sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission and the Community Services & Parks Department.
