Authorities asked for the public’s help Friday to find an 84-year-old man diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease who was last seen in Irvine.

Changyu Zhou, who speaks only Mandarin and is in need of medication, was last seen at about 10 a.m. Saturday in the area of Jeffrey Road and Walnut Avenue, according to Lt. Cathy Scherer of the Irvine Police Department.

Zhou has lived in Irvine for almost two years but is unfamiliar with the area, Scherer said. He frequents the Lower Peter’s Canyon Trail and the Lakeview Senior Center. He was previously listed as a missing person on Oct. 25 and was later located in the area of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway and Dyer Road in Santa Ana.

Zhou is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds with white hair and brown eyes. He left his home wearing a black baseball cap, green shirt, black vest, blue jeans and black Adidas shoes.

Irvine police urged anyone with information regarding Zhou’s whereabouts to call them at 949-724-7200.
