A 59-year-old inmate at the Men’s Central Jail in Santa Ana died Friday following an unspecified medical issue.

The inmate was taken to a hospital Friday morning due to the medical issue, and pronounced dead by hospital staff, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of death will be determined following toxicology and an independent autopsy, the department reported.

The man’s name was not released pending notification of next of kin. The jail inmate was taken into custody by the Anaheim Police Department on Sunday and booked in multiple felony counts of child molestation, according to the department.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department and District Attorney’s Office are investigating the man’s death.
