Overnight full closure of North- and Southbound SR-71 in Pomona

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces a full freeway closure of north- and southbound State Route 71 (SR-71) from the SR-71/SR-60 Interchange to Mission Boulevard on Monday, October 3 for the removal of the overhead sign structure. The scheduled closure is part of the SR-71 Expressway to Freeway Conversion Project.

The closure is as follows:

Monday, October 3 at 10:00 p.m. through Tuesday, October 4 at 6:00 a.m.

• North- and Southbound SR-71 from SR-71/SR-60 Interchange to Mission Boulevard

Mission Boulevard & Rio Rancho Road on ramps will be CLOSED at 7:00 p.m.

Residents and businesses located near the freeway are advised to anticipate noise, vibrations, and dust associated with construction activities. Detours will be posted for motorist convenience.

The schedule is weather-permitting, and all dates and times are subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov).

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

OHL USA, Inc., of Irvine, Calif. is the contractor on this $174.55 million project. This project is funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 and Measure M funds by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro).
