Average gasoline prices creep higher in LA, Orange counties

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose four-tenths of a cent Tuesday to $5.291, its fourth consecutive increase after decreasing 78 of the previous 80 days.

The average price is 2.3 cents more than one week ago, 21.8 cents less than one month ago and 88.5 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price rose for the fifth consecutive day after dropping nine of the previous 10 days to its lowest amount since March 4, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $5.238.

It is 5.8 cents more than one week ago, 16.2 cents less than one month ago and 87.1 cents higher than one year ago.

The national average gasoline price dropped for the 84th consecutive day since rising to a record, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $3.779. It has dropped $1.237 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.

The national average price is 6.5 cents less than one week ago and 30.5 cents lower than one month ago, but 59.1 cents more than one year ago.
