Area 1 comprised of the Altadena, Pasadena lunch, Pasadena after hours, San Marino and South Pasadena clubs are coming together to host a happy hour at newly opened Gaucho Grill at 455 South Lake Ave. in Pasadena on Wednesday, May 18, from 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. Reservations must be made as seating is limited to the first 50 who register. There is no cost to attend. You will be treated to a delicious Argentinian faire “appetizer style.”

The Rotary Club of Altadena is also the producer of the free Farnsworth Park Summer Concert Series, a series of high caliber bands performing Saturday evenings in July and August from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater at Farnsworth Park on the top of Lake Avenue.

The amphitheater is the second largest in the LA County Parks inventory behind the Hollywood Bowl. The 2022 season will be the 25th anniversary of the Summer Concert Series. During the 2019 series, over 10,000 people attended.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Pasadena, through its Community Grants Program, provides needed cash awards to worthy 501(c)3 charities that serve our area to provide them additional means to continue and grow their good work. There is a theme each year to the program and this year “Arts” was the featured area. Utilizing the funds from The Pasadena Rotary Foundation, a total of thirteen organizations in Pasadena were awarded grants of $1,000 to $6,000 for a total of $60,000.

The San Marino Rotary Club is recognized for a couple events, as annually for the past 10 years they help co-organize the Motor Classic which raises over $300K that benefits local and international projects. This year, the event is on August 28 at Lacy Park.

Each year they also do a hands-on project of funding and building a home for a family in need in Tecate, Mexico. This is in collaboration with South Pasadena, Pasadena and the Corazon non-profit in Mexico.  This year, the clubs were able to give $60K to teachers from seven public and private schools in the greater San Marino area for innovative projects.
