Person hit by Metro train, killed near downtown Los Angeles

A person was hit by a Metro A Line train and killed Thursday near downtown Los Angeles.

Paramedics sent to 24th Street and Long Beach Avenue about 7:40 a.m. pronounced the person dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured person. The circumstances of the death were under investigation. No one else was hurt.

Bus shuttles were being arranged to carry rail passengers between the Vernon and Washington stations, according to Metro.
