The City of Monrovia will be hosting two different family-friendly events on Dec. 31 – New Year’s Eve – in celebration of the new year.

The first event, titled by the city as “Noon Year’s Eve,” is the early celebration of the new year. Gathering at the Monrovia Library Park between 10 a.m. through 1 p.m., the celebration is recognized as an event for families who don’t wish to stay up until midnight to celebrate the arrival of 2022.

Activities include live music, arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course, games and a special countdown to Noon Year’s Eve. All ages are welcomed to participate in family fun activities, and the event is free to the public.

Following this event, the city, along with the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board and the Old Town Merchants, will set up yet another event with Monrovia’s annual New Year’s Eve gathering on Myrtle Avenue.

Beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting through 1 a.m., the gathering will showcase live music and Old Town Monrovia restaurants will be offering an enhanced outdoor dining and drinking experience, all followed by the celebratory ball raising at midnight.

Parking for the event, particularly in Old Town Monrovia, is free. However, the city is encouraging residents to carpool and arrive earlier than the event’s start time.

For families worried about taking care of children later into the night, the city will also be providing childcare services at the Monrovia Community Center for $20 per child.

Program registration will be required in advance, and for more information you are encouraged to call (626) 256-8246.
