Northbound I-5 set to be closed starting Monday for construction

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to close all lanes on Northbound I-5 in Burbank for bridge construction, starting at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, and repeating each night at 11:59 p.m. through Friday night, Oct. 1.

Lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. PST each morning, Tuesday through Saturday.

All traffic will exit Northbound I-5 at Burbank Blvd. A detour will be provided. This closure will include the following:

  • Northbound I-5 may be reduced to one or two lanes starting at 9 p.m. each night.
  • The Westbound State Route 134 (SR-134) connector to Northbound I-5 will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., with the following detour posted: Westbound on SR-134 to Northbound SR-170 to Northbound I-5.
  • Northbound I-5 on-ramps will be closed at Orange Grove/Olive Avenue and at Alameda Avenue between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with detours posted.
  • Westbound SR-134 on-ramps will be closed at Fairmont Avenue and San Fernando Road in Glendale between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with detours posted.

Motorists are advised to use other routes to avoid possible traffic delays.
