A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday by a Metro L Line train in Monrovia, officials said.

The person was hit by the train, which was bound for Los Angeles, near California Avenue and Duarte Road about 4:25 a.m., and died at the scene, according to Metro.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured person.

Buses were brought in to ferry passengers between the Duarte and Arcadia stations, Metro reported. The L Line was formerly known as the Gold Line.

This is the second fatal accident at that intersection. In April 2020, a mother and infant were struck and killed by an L Line train.
