The Pasadena Junior of Commerce, or “Jaycees,” announced the return of their Golf Tournament set to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Brookside Golf Club to benefit their long-standing community service projects.

Proceeds from the tournament go directly toward those service projects, including Operation Gobbler and Operation Santa.

Operation Gobbler is a Thanksgiving food drive, where donors provide low-income families with fresh ingredients. And Operation Santa — which is the Jaycees’ largest and longest-standing project — has been serving Pasadena children in need since 1934 by providing them with toys on Christmas Eve.

Through these projects, the Jaycees typically feed over 300 families and provide toys to approximately 3,000 children, according to a press release.

“As the coronavirus continues to affect the Pasadena community and the Jaycees’ many community service projects, I am ecstatic that we are able to safely move forward with our Golf Tournament fundraiser, which helps to fund our Operation Gobbler and Operation Santa projects,” said Pasadena Jaycees President Phillip Arce. “The success of these projects is made possible by our volunteers, donors, collaborators, and leaders of the community.”

The first tee time begins at 10 a.m., and the reception will follow at 6 p.m. at the nearby La Casita Arroyo. The event will also include a silent auction, on-course activities, and giveaways.

The fee to participate is $150 per golfer, and sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $2,500. Tickets for the dinner reception only are available for $25, and donations of any amount are also welcomed.
