$7.3 million Live Oak Library refurbishment showcased at open house

LA County Library hosted an Open House on Aug. 4 to celebrate the reopening and refurbishment of Live Oak Library in Arcadia.

The Open House featured an outdoor activity for children and teens, a walkthrough of the library’s newly refurbished space, and special messages from Supervisor Kathryn Barger, LA County Library Director Skye Patrick, and more.

The library reopened its doors on May 10 for select in-person services as part of the Library’s phased reopening, which followed the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

Live Oak Library’s $7.3 million refurbishment project started on May 20, 2019 and was completed in on Sept.1, 2020.

Live Oak Library now features 38 reader seats and 10 lounge seats, four adult computers, five teen laptop computers, four children’s computers, two early learning computers, and two iPads to access the catalog, a laptop vending machine with 12 laptops for in-library use, a community meeting room with kitchenette and state-of-the-art audiovisual system, and a group study room.

The remodeled library also features two self-check machines, two digital information boards, a lighting control system, tables with power outlets and USB charging, energy-efficient air conditioning and heating, and more.

Live Oak Library is one of several LA County Library locations that are currently open for select in-person services. LA County Library has safely reopened its libraries at 75% capacity, while also maintaining 6-feet of physical distance for customers.

County residents are encouraged to visit LACountyLibrary.org for details about additional library openings, library hours, services, safety protocols and scheduled events and programs.
