Man killed fatally struck by alleged DUI driver in Orange identified

A 19-year-old man fatally struck by an alleged DUI driver in Orange on May 19 has been identified.

Orange resident Aden Uriostegui was struck by a pickup truck on May 19 around 10:09 p.m., according to Orange Police. The driver of the pickup truck, 39-year-old Orange Resident Sitani Pinomi, remained on scene and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Pinomi was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license.

Uriostegui died at the scene of the crash, according to the Orange Count County Coroner’s Office.

A GoFundMe page was set up supporting the Uriostegui family a day after Aden’s death.

“Our dear friend, Kathleen, and her family lost their son suddenly Wednesday May 19th as he was tragically hit and killed by a drunk driver,” read an excerpt from the campaign, which was organized by a friend of the the family. “Their son, Aden Uriostegui, was survived by two brothers, a sister and his dear parents. This family is filled with the most loving, giving, compassionate people we know and we want to do everything we can to let them know they are surrounded fully by our love and support. Let’s please comfort them with our love and kindness. ”

At the time of this publication, it had raised $27,993, surpassing its $20,000 goal by nearly eight thousand dollars.
