Launched in 2013, MATE The Label’s vintage-y flavor is a product of founder/owner Kayti O’Connell Carr’s love of vintage tee’s. Juxtaposing the brand’s signature lightweight, soft, quality material with an edgy, in-your-face look, MATE’s newest collection “WHEN YOU’RE STRANGE” is both soft yet strong, perfect for any Downtown adventure. Kayti’s personal favorites include Rock and Roll Heaven, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and Love Me Times Two.
DTLA’s Arts District is not only the brand’s home, it’s where the collection is made, er— #LAMADE. Designed, cut, sewn, dyed, and finished within miles of the office in collaboration with local businesses and workers, every piece is carefully and mindfully created. They’re stacked with the perfect layering pieces for fall, and we’re itching to do our bank accounts some damage.
