Wittmore steps into the yards

Originally an online-only menswear boutique, Wittmore found the comfort of brick-and-mortar for the second time in downtown L.A. The woodwork is white pine, the glass doors stand from floor-to-ceiling and the floor is polished concrete. Founder Paul C. Witt’s passion for Scandinavian modern design is in full effect here.

“Even if you just walked in for a minute to use the Wi-Fi, we really wanted to create a welcoming space,” says Witt.

In the new space, Wittmore carved out a corner dedicated to transitory pop-ups and other creative endeavors. The opening comes with an exhibit from the mogul of classic denim, Levi’s Vintage. The first installation will be a group show channeling the look and feel of Levi’s early imagery with works from Christian Webber, Kava Gorna, Tommy Ton, and others.

Wittmore joins vegan restaurant Café Gratitude as the second tenant of the Yards at One Santa Fe. Across from SCI-Arc, the new open-air marketplace and residential development takes its name from the adjacent Metro train maintenance yard. Soon, over twenty restaurants and retailers will join the space, including Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, produce shop Grow, and clothing atelier Voyager.

Downtown LA is fast becoming the most pedestrian friendly part of the city, and The Yards promises to take that spirit to the next level. I am so ready to take a stroll down the promenade.
