(Sponsored) FIGat7th Downtown Festival kicks off with Jonathan Wilson

Since Thursday became the new Friday, the latter has become everyone’s unofficial night in. But with summer in full swing Angelenos, specifically those of the east side persuasion  have access to a new game plan: an itinerary that trumps even the most enticing Netflix queue.

Now, not only do Downtowners have Zara and Target to boast about, but the pioneers of DTLA retail, FIGat7th is slated to host a free concert series produced by Arts Brookfield, that brings our acutely curated playlists to life.

This Friday, singer/songwriter/producer and unrivaled guitar hero, Jonathan Wilson will jump-start the festival with Mystic Braves to perform tracks his third album, Fanfare. The follow-up to Wilson’s critically acclaimed sophomore LP, Gentle Spirit, Fanfare includes rock icons Jackson Browne and two-thirds of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

The following Friday, The Internet  will take the stage to performing their acclaimed sophomore LP, Feel Good at the outdoor venue.  Odd Future’s neo-soul side project is the brainchild of Syd the Kid and Matt Martians, produced by Chad Hugo’s of the Neptunes, and features healthy riffs from Inubus guitarist Mike Eizinger. Yuna and Mac Miller make vocal cameos on the album, making Feel Good the ultimate score of the season.

The FIGat7th Downtown Festival will kick things off at 4p every Friday with a happy hour at TASTE, followed by libations provided by City Tavern’s Festival Bar & Beer Garden. Performances start at 8p, with an after party following the show.

The series will run until August 22nd, with artists like Las Cafeteras, Gardens & Villas, Fool’s Gold, and the Belle Brigade rounding out the notable and highly anticipated roster.

Thanks, guys. We were overdue for a Friday renaissance.
