RODARTE Spring/ Summer ’13, TODD COLE, Elijah Wood, BEACH HOUSE, Fantasy- Sci-Fi storyline, and CREATOR’S PROJECT?! Too much!
Talented L.A. natives Todd Cole and the Mulleavy Sisters’ new short film This Must Be The Only Fantasy plays into all and every one of our geeky needs. Our expectations were confirmed with the release of the film’s trailer this week.
With imagery of unicorns, fairies, fancy jewels and glowing swords, you’d think that Frodo was reliving his days trekking to Mordor. But, this more dark and modern tale features Wood starring as the mysterious Trevor, alongside models Sidney Williams and Guinevere Van Seenus, in perhaps a surburban epic with aliens and a poignant Beach House soundtrack.
Despite Wood’s cameo, the true star and feature of this hyper fantasy has to be the dreamy Rodarte wardrobe. Ornate ear-cuffs, intense prints, dramatic gun-metal “armor” and drapey cut-out dresses all designed with dungeons and dragons in mind. The star cast, concept and collection make this out to be one heavily anticipated film. A film to rule them all.
