The public is invited to a free opening reception, 3-5 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Armory Center for the Arts, Community Room, 145 N. Raymond St., featuring artwork by local artists with disabilities. The event is sponsored by the City’s Human Services and Recreation Department as part of its popular Adaptive Recreation Program.
“The Sky is the Limit” special art exhibit runs July 11 to Sept. 7, 2015 showcasing artwork that celebrates 25 years of accessibility progress in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).
The opening reception is free, but booklets of the “The Sky is the Limit” artwork are available for a $10 donation to the Pasadena Recreation and Parks Foundation. Former President George H.W. Bush signed the ADA legislation into law July 26, 1990, making the U.S. the first country to adopt a comprehensive civil rights declaration for people with disabilities. The ADA has paved the way for universal accessibility for persons with disabilities in employment, public service, public accommodations and telecommunications, according to the White House.
