Andy Wilson was appointed to Pasadena District 7 seat at a City Council special meeting Monday afternoon. The vacancy was created when Terry Tornek was elected Mayor in May.

Wilson is the Harvard Business School-educated CEO of the tech company Rexter and the head of Innovate Pasadena, a nonprofit dedicated to local economic growth through technology and design innovation. He was immediately sworn in with his wife at his side and seated as a Councilmember. His term will expire May 1, 2017.

“No one said this would be easy, folks,” Mayor Tornek said as Councilmembers deliberated on the heels of hearing all four applicants make six-minute statements and spontaneously respond to questions.

Wilson won the third and final round of voting with a single “No” vote from Councilmember Tyron Hampton.

Wilson has been a member of the city’s Design Commission for eight years. He served on the Planning Commission for three years and the Pasadena Center Operating Committee for two.

He lives in District 7 with his wife, two sons and a recently-adopted daughter.
