Two carjacking suspects were hospitalized in critical condition after a new BMW vehicle they stole crashed into a tree in Pasadena around 2:55 a.m.
The carjackers, who are believed to be gang members, took the vehicle, the owner’s wallet and smart phone, at gunpoint from the 4500 block of Willow Brook Avenue in East Hollywood around 2:30 a.m., according to LAPD.
Speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour knocked out at least one curbed driveway on Paloma. Debris from the car and parts of roadway and concrete are spread over several blocks while LAPD investigates,
The Los Angeles police said the victim was able to track his BMW through the location of his smart phone.

The suspects lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Paloma and North Allen Avenue in Pasadena, crashing into a tree around 3 a.m. LAPD helicopters were tracking the car.
Both suspects were extricated from the vehicle by Pasadena Fire Dept,, one in critical condition, the other with very serious life-threatening injuries according to reports.
The LAPD is in charge of the investigation while Pasadena PD assists. The roads remain closed.
