LASD Investigates Altadena Residential Fire

On Monday, May 4, 2015, at approximately 2:42 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Altadena Sheriff’s Station responded to a residential fire in the 200 block of East Pentagon Street, Altadena.

Upon arrival, the fire was quickly contained to a back yard and extinguished by personnel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No injuries were reported; however, ammunition was discovered in the back yard of the residence, posing a possible explosive hazard.

As a precautionary public safety measure, deputies evacuated the neighboring residences and notified LASD Arson/Explosives Detail. Upon further examination, it was determined that the ammunition posed no additional hazard, was legally possessed and was not the cause of the fire.
The evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the LA County Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives Detail.
